You may self-refer, or be referred to us by your GP or another specialist. Please get in touch by phone or email so we can have a brief chat about your condition and arrange an appointment.
Our appointments are all one hour long. This enables us to carry out a thorough person-centred assessment and examination, explain our findings to you and put together a treatment plan tailored to your needs. We also explain how long your recovery may take and what you can do to help yourself.
The assessment involves a subjective discussion of what has happened, what hurts, how long it has been going on, what treatment you've had to date, any past injuries, medical conditions and so on. It is followed by a physical assessment, looking at your movement, areas of pain and your body as a whole. This is because your current pain could be the result of an injury from years ago that was never fully resolved. Objective tests are also used to check what specific structures are compromised.
Please wear or bring appropriate clothing if you prefer - shorts and a vest top are often helpful.
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, that's fine, but please try to provide a minimum of 24 hours notice. Any cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will incur a cost for lost treatment time.
